Hypnosis – An Answer To Diseases

By alena jones at 2011-01-03 04:21:59
Hypnosis is simply a mental state induced by a hypnotic induction, commonly composed of a series of preliminary instructions and suggestions. Whilst in the hypnotic state subjects will be in a state of heightened suggestibility where they are far more likely to believe or perform what they are being told. You have been in hypnosis many times without even realizing it. If you have ever watched a sad T.V. show and reacted with a tear in your eye, you have been hypnotized by the television. You entered a state of increased suggestibility where you uncritically accepted the suggestion of sadness on the TV screen and reacted with a sad emotion, your tear.

Hypnosis is not at all related to any particular state of consciousness. The reason people confuse hypnosis as a state of consciousness is because we often associate the techniques of hypnosis as leading to a half-sleep and half-awake state. There really is a load of crap out in the hypnosis world today. In today's world, people are learning more and more to think for themselves and do not like to be told what to do. All of that old "you are getting veddy, veddy sleepy" stuff is outdated and ineffective.

Interest in hypnotism was revived with the success of an American stage hypnotist, Ormond McGill. As well as pioneering hypnosis as TV entertainment, McGill wrote what is now known as the bible of stage hypnosis, his books The New Encyclopaedia of Stage Hypnotism and Professional Stage Hypnotism. In the UK, the revival of stage hypnotism was accompanied by a heightened concern about the possible dangers of stage hypnosis, and the 1952 Hypnotism Act was brought in.

The success of everyday applications of hypnosis lead to acceptance of hypnosis in fields that include business, law enforcement, sports and academics. Hypnosis is a first choice treatment instead of the last hope for many hypnotic applications. Hypnosis requires something called induction. Remember, hypnosis is a unique state of mind, different from your ordinary state of mind. Your ordinary mind must therefore be induced, that is changed into a different state to acheive hypnosis.

The power of hypnosis is limitless. It is as vast as the human imagination. Most very successful people have succeeded because they imagined and saw themselves as being successful. Successful athletes call " being in the zone " that very focused and powerful state they go into when achieving top performances. This state is nothing else than hypnosis of course! Stage hypnosis in its true form, whether it deals with an individual subject or an entire audience, will generally involve a more abbreviated form of real hypnosis. To make stage hypnosis work, the hypnotist will first attempt to relax the audience or individual.

There are currently two categories of theories, state and non state hypnosis, that are responsible for the research in modern day hypnosis. State theories concentrate on the fact that during hypnosis the there is an altered state of consciousness involved and that this altered state is the core of hypnosis itself. Non-state theories on the other hand are based on the point that hypnosis is nothing but a non-trivial psychological process, often categorized as focused attention of the mind, heightened by expectations. Hypnosis school graduates are often called upon to help people break free from the bounds of this addiction. This can be especially rewarding for hypnosis school graduates when the efforts are successful.

Hypnosis is used to treat obesity, anxiety, depression, phobias, fears and habits such as quitting smoking. Hypnosis is used to alleviate the pain associated with cancer and other chronic illnesses. Hypnosis is also used in dentistry (hypnodontia) to decrease anxieties and make patients feel more comfortable with the dental experience.
