By alena jones at 2010-12-27 05:36:50
Cloves are the dried flower buds of evergreen trees that grow in tropical climates. After they are harvested, the flowers are sun dried. The majority of cloves are grown in Asia are used to produce cigarettes called "Kretek." But the highest quality harvests are reserved for export to the spice market. Toothache is still effectively treated with cloves as the eugenol in the spice has both analgesic and antiseptic qualities. A bruised clove or some clove oil on cotton wool is held in the mouth near the tooth. Some dentists still use cloves to disinfect ailing root canals and mix clove oil with zinc oxide for temporary fillings.

Clove's unsurpassed level of antioxidants is made up of a number of different antioxidant compounds. These include two well-researched antioxidants, anthocyanins and quercetin. Cloves have the distinction of having the highest antioxidant activity of any food! Cloves were used in the Middle Ages to preserve, flavor and garnish foods. Today, cloves are used in cooking in whole or ground form. Cloves have a very strong aroma so a little goes a long way in any recipe. Traditionally clove has been used as a spice worldwide. Tincture of cloves has been used for skin infections like scabies and athlete's foot, for digestive upsets for intestinal parasites and most notably for tooth aches. In traditional folk medicine, clove buds were steeped in wine to ease the pain of childbirth.

Some types of foods that we use cloves in include cakes, cookies, biscuits, chutneys, desserts, dressings, fruit dishes, meat dishes and pickles. Baked goods and meats are the dishes more likely to contain cloves. Clove is also effective with easing the symptoms of health conditions such as easing nausea, soothing earaches (when mixed with a carrier oil), and relieving headaches (when mixed with salt and applied to the front of the head). Cloves have a very power medicinal power. They are anti-viral, anti-fungal, can be used as an antiseptic, and are also anti-bacterial. Wounds, cuts, bruises and insect bites can all be treated with a poultice of Cloves. To make a simple poultice, grind up several cloves, mix with water to form a paste, apply to wound and cover with a warm towel.

The super antioxidant of all super antioxidants. Ground cloves are the number one rated antioxidant by ORAC score. The score came from a study by the USDA. ORAC stands for Oxygen Radical Absorbency Capacity Report. In simple terms ground cloves has more antioxidant activity than any other food source. If you are feeling stressed, or exhausted mentally or physically use two or three drops of clove essential oil in a diffuser. These symptoms can also be alleviated by using a massage oil on your body made of two or three drops of essential oil in one ounce of carrier oil.

The great benefits of eugenol in clove oil can be enjoyed in aromatherapy products. If you already have accustomed with the other kinds of aroma, this is the perfect alternative to try out. Some benefits of clove oil are such as anti fungal, antiviral and also antiseptic. This oil is perfect as antimicrobial and aphrodisiac too. So, people should feel happy with the presence of such thing to cope with some health disorders. Well known antiseptic properties have lead investigators to wonder whether they could use Syzygium aromaticum for nail fungus and as an antifungal in other applications. Laboratory testing has confirmed that the plant extract kills yeast and fungi in solution, and experiments with plants have also shown antifungal properties - all positive signs that clove oil for nail fungus is a viable idea.

Clove oil keeps your digestive tract clean and safe from all types of parasitic bacteria which are developing inside, it could eliminate risks of you getting toothaches very often and severely. It is a basic stimulant for the body which quickens or enhances the metabolism of the body. Garlic cloves wrapped in tea leaves have been used as a cure for skin conditions in the Far East since before the countries of Europe emerged from the depths of barbarism.
