What Causes Blood In Urine??

By alena jones at 2010-12-16 04:45:15
The presence of blood in urine can be of great concern. This is a normal reaction, but the emotional stress which is felt at the time must be tempered with calm action. Any sign of blood in canine urine must be investigated in order to determine what is causing it.

Also called hematuria, blood in the urine is a symptom associated with many urinary tract health problems; the presence of the red cells is easy to recognize and it usually creates the impression of a very severe disease.

What can cause blood in urine? There are many reasons that you may suffer from this problem. First and foremost, you should know that not all of them are serious. In other words, blood in your pee is not always a bad thing. No, it is not good, but at the same time it may not be a very serious issue. Of course, you cannot afford to take this lightly. Instead, you should let your doctor diagnose the cause and then put you on the proper treatment schedule.

Some common causes of blood in pee include kidney and bladder stones, cancer, strenuous exercise, and urinary tract infection. That being said, there are other causes that could bring forth this problem. Once again, this is why it is so important to let your doctor diagnose the problem.

Even more surprising may seem the fact that blood in urine is a normal condition that doesn't necessarily indicate a health problem. Around a million red cells are eliminated via the urinary tract every day; but the condition is far from being considered clinical.

Microscopic hematuria indicates an affection at the level of the superior urinary tract, usually the kidneys; whereas the intense or acute hematuria is specific to the lower part of the tract. It is good to know that some forms of antibiotics have blood in urine as a common side effect, so in case you perform a home test, make sure you include details on any medical treatment you've been on. Hematuria is more common with people over forty; however, it frequently appears at younger ages since it is usually triggered by basic infections of the urinary tract.

One of the most commonly asks questions by women who are experiencing this problem is "can ovarian cysts cause blood in urine?". At this time, there does not seem to be a link between urine in the blood, and ovarian cysts. Many woman that have experienced blood in their urine during or around the time of finding that they had an ovarian cyst found that they also had a bladder or kidney infection. It is important speak with your doctor if you are seeing spotting in your urine, if your menstrual period seems to be lasting longer than usual.

If you are not trying to get pregnant, your doctor may put you on a hormone treatment, such as birth control, to help level your system out, and to help your body stop creating follicles. Functional cysts do not usually require treatment, and they usually disappear within eight to twelve weeks. You should contact your doctor if you have simple ovarian cysts that are larger than five to ten centimeters or complex ovarian cysts that will not go away. These will need to be removed by surgery.

Treatment of this problem depends on the cause. For instance, if you have blood in your urine due to extreme exercise your doctor will probably tell you to stay away from intense workouts for a few days. But on the other side of things, treatment of blood in urine caused by cancer is an entirely different story. In this case, you will be dealing with a much more serious issue and one that needs to be treated aggressively. Unfortunately, staying away from exercise is not going to cure cancer.
